We often speak about Extreme's broad beam at the waterline, downturn chine, running from transom through the bow. It couldn't be more crucial in smaller console boats.
The wide water line beam and downturn chine gives you the stability and allows you to walk around freely while staying dry on the move due. This lets this boat cross into a little bay boat and light, offshore work.
Throughout Extreme's range, the workmanship that goes into these boats is easy to see. Even in their smaller boats, the attention to detail is first class. Rod holders are all fully welded. Alloy bung bases are welded into the boat and not riveted as you see on other boats.
This 545 is Minn Kota ready and has a strong, raised floor in the front that gives you a large work area for casting, and plenty of space to walk down the side decks past the centre console.
Another example of Extreme's attention to detail is the way they give you a lot of options. This boat has our leaning post seat here which you can have right through the range up to the 745 Centre Console
It seats two people, and you can drop it away, and then it can be used as a leaning post. So, if you're just out flicking plastics for the day, you can remove it completely.
You can also turn the seat backwards, so if you are bait fishing for the day, grab a seat, put your feet up on the transom, and fish away.
Extreme has removable rod racking through the entire Console range and even into the Game King series, as well. They clip on on the side pockets and can be moved around to suit the user. That lets the individual have as many or as few in the boat at any one time, depending on who's going and how many people, how many rods. You will have enough holders for all your rods.
Being able to customise the layout of your boat is important. In this boat, we've got a live bait tank. You can go back to a walkthrough transom if that's better suited.
Storage. It's that one word when we're looking at purchasing boats is storage, storage, storage. In the front of the Extreme, the seat lifts off. We've got a huge storage area there for tackle bags and stuff that you're using regularly.
We then dive down deeper into the bellows of the boat for the items that aren't used as regularly.
Under the console, we've got an open cavity with more storage options. Whether you're carrying tackle bags or even drone boxes, as we had during out walk through, items can be easily accessed.
The Console layout on this 545 we have is relatively straightforward. Binnacle control, Yamaha command-link gauge, which is easily visible. In this boat, we've got a seven inch Raymarine in the new Axiom series, switch panel, and hydraulic steering.
We can fit out these consoles as basic or as extravagant as they need to be with larger or dual head units. Whatever the individual requires can be provided.
This is the dash from one of our other console boats.
Many boats have their fuel filler built into the floor. In the Extreme console range, the fuel fillers are mounted on the side, which makes them easy to fill. This means you can fill the boat without having to get onto it and risk dripping fuel on the boat floor.
Even in the 545, our winches are completely concealed beneath the deck. You may choose a Capstan or a Drum style so as not to clutter up the top deck.
We get to play around with a lot of big boats in our industry, but we love fishing, and especially lure fishing. I can't tell you how much fun you can have running around in these smaller boats. They are exciting to use and, more importantly, very capable boats.
This 545 Console is a versatile boat. For our walkthrough, we're up in the mangroves, chasing some perch. Tomorrow, you might be out in the bay or get out wide, doing some offshore work. The 545 CC can handle poor conditions while keeping you dry.
We talk about it all the time, but wide water line beam gives you stability when you're walking around throwing lures. The downturn chine running from transom to bow provides you with spray deflection and a dry ride. This enables you to cross some rougher waters. The 545 CC can easily be beach launched, getting you out offshore. You don't often get these features in the smaller aluminium or fibreglass boats.
Thanks for reading about the Extreme 545 Centre Console today. We think you'll agree that this is a versatile boat. If you're in the market for one of the driest riding little Consoles, there is. Give us a call to arrange a test drive.
